Recruitment, recruitment, recruitment. That’s what’s on our mind at the moment, as we in the User Experience Department are looking for a few new faces to join our team (check our the Join LBi section of the website for more details). So of course, the UPA careers event was never going to be something we took lightly.
We are a big company with 400 people in the London office, so we decided to show our personal side, and literally give something back – 100 cupcakes no less! Our company baker (who knew?) made us some un-iced Red Velvet cupcakes (very on brand) and then our 25 people-strong User Experience team took time out over lunchtime to lovingly decorate each and every one.
Along with the cupcakes, we also had 100 hand-folded handouts in origami envelopes. Creative doesn’t even being to describe how amazing these were, although the man hours needed to make all those folds was definitely unexpected. In the end it was another team effort involving friendly banter, red wine and loud music.
The night itself was great, we met lots of interesting people that we’re hoping will lead to some lasting relationships. We didn’t however, manage to give always all our cupcakes – maybe some of the designs were just a little too scary looking (??), but we hope that those who did get one enjoyed them.
Big thanks to Ben, Stuart, Claudia, Mehul, Rafa, Kim, Natalie, Mario, Karima, Hannah, Chris, Ray, and Sal.
