Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Hosting Project Manager.
The Managed Services Project Manager is responsible for the day-to-day project management of Managed Services specific projects such as new client hosted infrastructure builds, load / penetration testing and incremental development projects. In addition, the job holder will be responsible for the smooth transition of the support of newly built applications from the development team to the Managed Services team, ensuring that the requisite amount of knowledge transfer and associated documentation has been completed.
The job holder will also work alongside the Managed Services Client Partner in the preparation and presentation of quarterly service reviews for all contracted clients against defined service levels.
Responsibilities
DELIVERY
• Planning
- Day to day management of the project teams
- Own creation of plan (or section of plan) including estimation, tracking, updating
- Define responsibilities and set direction with the project team
• Communications
- Chair team meetings and capture issues and actions. Ensure actions are followed up by the team
- Track and maintain project issues and risk logs
- Timely status reporting to Head of Managed Services / Client Partner, including financial if T&M
- Escalate issues to Head of Managed Services / Client Partner where appropriate
• Consulting
- Attend client meetings and capture requirements and minutes. Listen, ask questions when unclear
- Manage scope with client
• Financials
- Report budget and forecasts to Head of Managed Services / Client Partner
- Track actual time and expenses incurred by team
• Leadership
- Support team in consolidating deliverables and packaging and submitting deliverables
- Conducts timely, fair and accurate project reviews for team members, using the standard templates, where appropriate
• Conducts self, and communicates, professionally with clients and colleagues
• Works proactively with Head of Managed Services / Client Partner to ensure completion of project reviews for self
• Provides 360° feedback for team members where appropriate
COMPANY
• Teams with Head of Managed Services / Client Partner during sales activities, proposal writing
• Works with Head of Managed Services / Client Partner to scope, prioritise and cost proposals
• Communicates ideas and industry trends on particular subject matter to colleagues through informal communication and formal presentations and training sessions
• Supports business operational processes (e.g. supports running end of project reviews)
• Endeavours to complete personal career objectives to timeline agreed with line manager
• Makes use of appropriate research materials (Internet, publications etc) to ensure skills and knowledge remain current
• Maintains an up to date resume detailing client project experience
• Maximises billable hours through making oneself available for client work. Makes best use of non-billable hours by working on internal initiatives, business development and self development
• Mentors junior colleagues on an informal basis offering opinions and input in a supportive manner
Qualifications and Experience
• 1st or 2.1 degree from a top 20 university – subject non-specific.
A degree demonstrating analytical capability is preferred
• PRINCE2 Practitioner; ITIL Service Management certification desirable
• Experience in relevant industry (e.g. service management, application development, e-business consulting, online design), particularly in a Hosting / Application Support environment
• Experience leading a team of 3-4 people
• Role specific skills in a project role, such as Service Management, Software Engineering, Business Analysis
